Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) | killer robots | gender | export control, transfer policy and laws
Verity Coyle is a Senior Advisor at the International Secretariat of Amnesty International in London, where she works on various arms control and security issues, including the Arms Trade Treaty, the trade in conventional arms, the use of inhumane weapons around the world and the use and transfer of armed drones. A current area of focus is the use, trade and regulation of less-lethal equipment. She also works on fully autonomous weapons systems and other emerging weapons and artificial intelligence technologies. Coyle sits on the Steering Committee of the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots, of which Amnesty International is a member.
Coyle is also a non-resident fellow with the Conventional Defense Team at the Stimson Center. She formerly coordinated research and policy for the Control Arms coalition. Her areas of expertise focus on issues relating to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and international human rights. As ATT Monitor Coordinator she managed all aspects of the project, including editing and preparing research, presentation of the annual report at Conferences of States Parties, UN General Assembly First Committee and other fora. She has worked with partners from the ICRC, Harvard Law School and the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy on projects related to gender-based violence and the arms trade.
