Stephen Semler is co-founder of Security Policy Reform Institute (SPRI), a grassroots-funded U.S. foreign policy think tank. Previously, Semler was based in Beirut, Lebanon, as an analyst for Mercy Corps’ Humanitarian Access Team for Syria. He also has experience in federal government relations, forensic weapons investigations, and policy analysis and advocacy. Semler has written for Jacobin, Outrider, Responsible Statecraft, and others and is the author of the Speaking Security newsletter.
Semler studied the geopolitics of the Middle East and US foreign policy toward the region at Pennsylvania State University, University of Jordan, George Washington University and American University of Beirut.
