Africa | Small arms and light weapons
Linnet L. Wairimu Ng'ayu is currently the coordinator of the Africa Family Law Network, a strategic network of regional partners - Equality Now, Musawah, the African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) and the Strategic Network for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA).
She previously served as the institutional strengthening advisor of the African Council of Religious Leaders – Religions for Peace (ACRL-RfP), an affiliate of Religions for Peace Int in Africa. ACRL-RfP mobilises religious leaders and their faith communities to build peaceful, just, hopeful and harmonious societies in Africa. At ACRL-RfP, Ng’ayu coordinated the Council’s work in Humanitarian Disarmament spearheading advocacy at the regional and international level. Her work revolved engaging faith communities in advocacy for nuclear disarmament and addressing illegal proliferation of small arms and light weapons. As a member of Control Arms, she spoke on their behalf at the Second Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty. Ng'ayu served as a Member of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) where ACRL-RfP is on the International Steering Group.
Ng’ayu has a Bachelor of Arts degree (Sociology) and a Bachelor of Laws degree both from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
