Arms Trade Treaty | Africa
Linnet L. Wairimu Ng'ayu is currently institutional strengthening advisor for the African Council of Religious Leaders – Religions for Peace (ACRL-RfP), an affiliate of Religions for Peace Int in Africa. ACRL-RfP mobilises religious leaders and their faith communities to build peaceful, just, hopeful and harmonious societies in Africa. In promoting different faiths for common action, interfaith spaces, platforms and networks are formed for the promotion of harmony and sustainable progress of the continent.
Based in Kenya, Ng’ayu coordinates the Council’s work in Humanitarian Disarmament spearheading advocacy at the regional and international level. Her work revolves engaging faith communities in advocacy for nuclear disarmament and addressing illegal proliferation of small arms and light weapons. She is a member of Control Arms, and has spoken on their behalf of at the Second Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty. She is also a Member of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) where ACRL-RfP is on the International Steering Group.
Ng’ayu has a Bachelor of Arts degree (Sociology) and a Bachelor of Laws degree both from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
