Nate Marx is Director of the Security Assistance Monitor project at the Center for International Policy, where he focuses on tracking U.S. arms sales and security cooperation activities. Marx also leads the cybersecurity, AI, technology policy, and data analysis practices at the Center and performs an array of qualitative and quantitative work on U.S. foreign policy, security assistance, corruption, and climate change. Previously, he served as a cybersecurity educator, training U.S. military cyber operators in defensive network operations, and as a researcher in the private sector, focusing on network forensics, novel uses of machine learning for cyber defense, and cyber threat intelligence. Before that, Marx performed human cognition and telerobotics research in support of lunar spaceflight missions as a project manager at the Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy.
Marx received his M.P.A. in International Security Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), where he focused on arms control, Indian politics, and the intersection of international ethics and US grand strategy. He holds a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado.
