Ethan Walton is a current graduate student at New York University (NYU) pursuing a Master's in International Relations. He previously obtained a BA in Political Science with minors in international relations and history from the University of Lynchburg. In 2019, he traveled to the former Yugoslavia to study regional conflict during the Second World War as well as in the Balkan Wars of the 1990s. He has formerly interned for the North Carolina General Assembly as well as Genocide Watch. Walton has a background in research, completing an undergraduate thesis on Generational Trauma and Nationalist Rhetoric as a Basis for Genocide, serving as a research assistant at NYU studying American exceptionalism and nationalism in the post-Cold War era, presenting on The Impacts of Presidential Rhetoric on Nuclear Proliferation at the 2019 Virginias Collegiate Honors Council conference, and is currently writing his master's thesis on Sexual Violence as a Weapon of War in Ukraine. His interests revolve around the arms trade, accountability within the US defense industry, how weapons sales are impacting the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and the influence of arms proliferation on political repression and geostrategic alliances.
