small arms and light weapons (SALW) | Africa | Arms Trade Treaty (ATT)

Nkemakonam Dickson Orji is an expert in international security, disarmament, arms control and humanitarian conflict management. His experience spans over 20 years. 

He previously served as the Programmes Coordinator of the Nigerian National Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons Control (NATCOM) and the Nigerian Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PRESCOM) respectively between 2005 and 2022. He was an Advisor to the President of the Second Conference of State Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). He was an Executive Committee Member of the West Africa Action Network on Small Arms (WAANSA). He is also founder and President of the Global Network for Human Development (GOLHD Centre) Nigeria, an affiliate of the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) and the Control Arms coalition.

He is an alumnus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Nigeria), Nasarawa State University (Nigeria), African Peace and Security Programme (PASA) at Uppsala University (Sweden), Koffi Anan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) (Ghana), and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) (Switzerland).
